Personal ResponsesLacey- In April of 2007, I was approached by a man selling knives. This particular company has been to the campus numerous times. He stopped me and asked if I would like to earn extra money. Intrigued I said yes. Then we went into a long persuasive talk about why I should join the company. After listening to him talk I politely said I wasn't interested but yet he still pushed his point. Trying to remain polite I continued to tell him no and finally getting tired of his persistent speech I walked away. After saying no the first time the man wasted 5 minutes of his and my time. Time that I could have used to make it to class on time instead of being 5 minutes late, and time that he could have bugged someone else and possibly gotten an actual sale.Tammy- During my 2007 spring semester I was approached by a guy who "told" me that I could use more income. It was up by Java & Jazz and I had just enough time in between my classes to get a bagel, eat it, and get to class. I was fealing rushed as it was but now I had some guy telling me what I needed. I was very offended that he felt he could assume something personal about me like my income. My hands were full, I was in a hurry, and basically the guy pissed me off, so I blew him off. He made some remark under his breath that I'm sure was not nice, and if I would of had more time you better believe I would have asked him to repeat himself, just a little louder. The encounter left me upset and distracted from the work I should've been focused on in class. Robert- During my 2005 spring semester in the beginning of the semester I was confronted by several solicitors on campus. I was getting overwhelmed with the amount of solicitors attempting to grab attention so they could buy a minute of my time. I found this very annoying and uncomfortable because all I wanted to do was go to my class and I also had to worry about being in the way of my fellow students because of someone trying to sell me something. I would have rather have them in a location where it isn’t high foot traffic so if I interest in something or would purchase something I could go there and take my time and not feel like I was in a rush.
