Summary

We believe that the most beneficial action for COC’s students is to have a set location as to where the vendors should be permitted. An ideal place would be in the Honor Grove. There is plenty of space where students walk by in their free time. This would allow solicitors to get the students full and undivided attention.

It states in the policy that the solicitors must be located near either the C building or the flag pole. It is clear that they are not following those rules. Our observations prove that they are in other areas such as Java N Jazz and the M building. This is in direct violation of what the policy states, why are they not being punished for their actions?

The policy is outdated. Cynthia Madia, Representative of the Vending Program in the Student Development Center, states that “Vendors choose their own location. The coffee shop area is popular because it has lots of foot traffic”. However, in the policy it restricts vendors from moving outside of the given locations. We believe that there should be a revised policy that restricts vendors from moving anywhere outside of the given locations.
